For as long as we shall live, the impurities may lay under the naked eye.
We are but one, bathing in the vast amount of comfortableness and norm, assuaged with the yardstick that society set so low.
Yet we gathered the scorned, the hateful, and the norm, basking with misleading praises and sweet words, forming a wall we called civilised.

A virus that is ravaging the internal system, shaking the core, gnawing on the foundation.

This post is dedicated to all fathers out there. I know, I know, today is not Father's Day. To be frank, I don't even remember when is the Father's Day. Not exactly I'm not. I only knew about it when there is a sale or when there is an advertisement in conjunction with the day. I'm sorry, I'm just not the kind of guy who can remembers any dates easily (you can asked FNA).

I digress. Okay, then. I thought about fatherhood because the topic of being one surfaced recently. Not the best of topic; kind of like the Pandora's Box. Was kind of sad at the moment, but now I am just going to see the good side of it.

I digress again. So here it is. The followings are my list of my top 3 favourite songs and movies relating to fatherhood (not necessarily in the order)

Do I need to say more? For those who never listen to this song, please slap yourself three times in the face. This song defines the 80's. And what's more, this song is a dedication from a father to his daughter. Sweet lyrics too. And again, Slash is brilliant on the solo.

Will Smith - Just The Two Of Us

The original melody was, I believed, from a band called Groover Washington Jr. They might be another original artist, but I am kind of lazy to search it up. Just listen to the music and feel the lyrics. It was as if Will Smith is really trying to convey a message to his son, being the most honest and truthful about it. Great song, great lyric, great singer.

Ugly Kid Joe - Cats In The Cradle

What I really like about this song is the melody. Especially the transition from the verse and the chorus. It kind of like swaying you gently on the verse before delivering the punch during the chorus. The original version came from Harry Chapin, but I prefer the Ugly Kid Joe's version. The lyrics, on the other hand, are not as jovial and motivating as the previous two songs. This one has a more melancholic and sad twist on it.

Top 3 Father's movie:

A Perfect World (1993)

I personally believe that this is a must-watch movie for every single dad or soon-to-be dad in the world today. The storyline is really beautiful. The way Kevin Costner portrayed the model fatherly figure and conveys his love for the kid is really touching. It has a sad ending too. I don't believe men will weep. But it does pushes a certain button in their heart.

The Pursuit Of Happyness (2006)

Again, another touching movie that revolved around fatherhood. Will Smith's acting was brilliant. This movie has one of the most touching scene in movie history (or at least to my liking), during the scene where Will Smith and his son was forced to sleep in the bathroom of the subway station and the janitor was trying to get it. But then, it also has one of the most relieving and most triumphant moment in an actor's character, during the scene when Will Smith gets the job, get out from the office, and celebrate outside the building. You can really felt how he feels at that time. Brilliant.

I Am Sam (2001)

To be perfectly honest, I have only seen this movie once; during an English class in high school about 8 years ago. However, I can really remembered this movie well, as it has imprinted its message inside myself. The struggle of custody battle between parents, and the portrayal of a mentally retarded father trying to win such battle is stunning. You can really justify those battle here in this movie. A touching movie too (why oh why do I have to choose touching movies when it comes to fatherhood? Damn)

So there goes my Top 3 lists for both criteria. I know there are many other choices when it comes to fatherhood, but these are the movies and songs that left an imprint on me, and has successfully conveyed the messages across. Enjoy!

Manchester United 3 Wolverhampton Wanderers 2

Manchester United won the 4th Round English Carling Cup ties with Wolverhampton after goals by Bebe (56'), Park Ji Sung (70'), and Javier Hernandez (90'). Chicharito has done it again, saving United from the possibilities of humiliating defeat at home. A nice goal too. Perhaps this little fellow can be a serious contender for the striking options, leaving Rooney lots to think about. Kudos to Bebe on his first starting line up. Seems to be promising. A lot of work still need to be done in the back four. We'll see.

Paul the Octopus dies

The oracle has died. After maintaining a 100% correct prediction in the 2010 World Cup, the octopus is dead. RIP Paul. We'll miss you.

Hauntingly beautiful

There are many ways to describe a music, or a song. So many ways, that I won't bother in naming a few examples here.

But there is an example which I would like to amplify today: Hauntingly beautiful.

A 'Hauntingly Beautiful' music is a description (which I uses) to describe musics which, literally, can gives you goosebumps. It is a music or a song which can lift the hair on the back on your neck when you listen to it with your eyes closed. You can almost imagine the notes dancing in the air, whispering soft yet strong message into your head. Or an eerie feeling, but somehow beautiful up to a point that you feel every notes and every words belong. In other words, it's indescribable. Haha. I digress.

So here is my Top 3 list of songs which I personally find hauntingly beautiful:

1) The Mantovanni Orchestra - Speak, Softly Love (Theme for 'The Godfather')

What else can I say. I am 100% obsessed with the trilogy, so it is inevitable that I like the song too. But this is, in my humble opinion, the most hauntingly beautiful song. Just close your eyes and listen to melody. I mean, truly listen to the way the melody waives and flows. The lyrics of this song, sang by Andy Williams or Al Martino, are beautiful too:

2) Guns N Roses - November Rain

The guitar riffs from Slash, the piano melody from Axl Rose, the accompanying orchestra in the back; that alone is enough to make me labeled this song as hauntingly beautiful. You can almost sway along with the progression of the melody, giving you goosebumps along the way. At times, I nearly drooled while listening to the song. True story. But I have to say, the punch line or the deadly blow which effectively raised this song above any other started when Slash climbed that piano.

The lyrics? Well written:

3) The Smiths - There is a light that never goes out.

The melody of this song is simple. So simple, that it turns out to be one of the best I've ever heard. The idea is kept simplified and straight to the point. Unlike some songs nowadays where they tried stuffing many ideas into a song, making it rubbish and losses its essence. Simplicity is better, hands down. The melody is moving to me, but what makes this song hauntingly beautiful is the lyrics. Read it, have a sing-along, you'll see what I mean:

Seven Evolutionary Leftovers in the Human Body

Wings on a flightless bird, eyes on a blind fish, and sexual organs on a flower that reproduces asexually—the casual observer might ask, what’s the point? But these vestigial organs and structures, once useful in an ancestor and now diminished in size, complexity, and/or utility, carry important information and give us clues to our evolutionary past.

Though humans often think of vestigial organs as useless little fixtures that sometimes, as in the case of the appendix, cause us extreme anguish, we wouldn’t know nearly as much about macroevolution as we do now without their presence. In On the Origin of Species, Charles Darwin used vestigial organs as evidence for evolution, and their presence has helped define and shape our phylogenetic trees.

Why the Leftovers?
Contrary to what most think, vestigial doesn’t necessarily mean useless; in some cases, we may just not yet know exactly how the organ is used in its current incarnation. (The human thymus was once thought to be vestigial). Because these structures can be traced back through the ancestors, they essentially serve as a marker of evolution; no organism can have a vestigial organ that hasn’t been found in its forefathers. For this reason, you won’t ever find feathers on a mammal or gills on a primate.

Similar in concept to vestigial structures are atavisms, which are the reappearance of a structure or trait that isn’t found in the immediate ancestors. For instance, whales and dolphins have been found in nature with hind limbs; this rare occurrence is due to the reemergence of a trait they inherited from their terrestrial ancestors.

Humans also contain structures that mark where we came from and perhaps, which structures’ evolution will take care of over time.

Human Tail (Bone)
One striking example of an atavism is the human coccyx, or tailbone, which is a relic of the mammalian tail. Useful for mammals that use tails for balance, species-to-species signaling, and support, the tail is missing in apes and in humans. However, all human embryos initially have a tail. Normally, they regress into four to five fused vertebrae (the coccyx). However, there have been numerous case studies of human children being born with an extended coccyx—a tail—that was removed without incident. Ranging from one inch to five, the gene that normally stops vertebrae elongation is decreased and the human tail remains at birth.

Wisdom Teeth
Our ancestors, known to be herbivores, needed strong molars for mashing up and chewing plant material. This relic is why many of us will develop wisdom teeth, also known as third molars. Theoretically, they could still be used for chewing, but in one third of people, they can come in sideways, impacted, or can cause pain and infection. This is why these vestigial structures are almost always removed when they begin to come in.

Appendix
Another leftover from our plant eating ancestors is the vermiform appendix, which is an organ attached to the large intestine. A similar sac is much bigger in other animals than it is in humans and is used to aid in digesting high cellulose diets.

While appendicitis can be a potentially fatal condition, and removing the appendix has no adverse effects, some researchers think that the appendix might have an auxiliary function, such as aiding the immune system.

Vitamin C Synthesis
In humans, vitamin C deficiency causes scurvy, and can eventually cause death. We can’t synthesize vitamin C (ascorbic acid), but our ancestors, save for the guinea pig and primates, were able to do so. Therefore, it makes sense that we have a vestigial molecular structure, now defunct, that manufactures the vitamin. The gene required for vitamin C synthesis was found in humans in 1994, but it was a pseudogene, meaning it was present but unable to function. The pseudogene was also found in some primates and guinea pigs, as expected.

Male Nipples
Male nipples are sometimes referred to as vestigial, although they aren’t truly, because they were never functional in our ancestors. Instead, they most likely occur because in the embryonic stage we are essentially sexless, only differentiating into male and female with the presence of hormones.

Goose Bumps
When we get goose bumps, it’s the action of muscle fibers called erector pili, which cause the hairs in follicles to stand to attention. In animals, such as a cat, this causes a larger appearance and can be used to thwart an attacker, as well as trap air between feathers and fur for insulation. However, humans, with our minimal coating of fur, don’t really need the raised hair; we use jackets instead. It is therefore thought that goose bumps don’t really serve much of a purpose. However, the small expenditure of energy used to contract the muscles could, perhaps, cause a tiny release of heat. Or, because goose bumps are associated not only with cold, but emotional responses as well (listening to a good song, seeing a scary movie) they could now serve as a form of communication with others.

Vomeronasal Organs (VNOs)
In mice and other animals, the tiny vomeronasal organs (VNOs) are thought to be responsible for pheromone detection, helping to pick up the chemicals that signal a potential mate, reproductive status, and other social cues. Although similar structures have been found in humans, they’re largely thought to be vestigial and inactive, having lost nerve connection to the brain.

There are other vestigial and atavistic structures in humans, especially when you consider the potential leftovers in our genomes. And if they don’t require too much energy or resources to make, chances are they’ll stick with us for the long haul.

Satisfying my male obsession

Being human, we are subjected to a numerous of feelings of obsessions over certain things. We started at very young age, where we craved about a lot of things. When we were toddlers, we craved about toys. I remembered when I was small, I always wanted to own a set of Optimus Prime, completed with its trailer and stuff. I never got it until now, but I remembered it well as it is one of my earliest craving for stuff. Then it was Tamiya, where I always dreamed about having the best one around. I did owned a few back then, but never did I customised it to the extend it didn't look like the original model.

I remembered the first time I wanted to own a pair of football boots, after seeing my friends using them while football and hockey practice. I remembered looking at the field and observing the imprints of the studs of the boots being marked clearly on the field. At that moment, I tell myself that one of these days, my boots will leave the same markings on this field. My first boots was really a humble one. My father bought me a Fung Keong boots. I don't know if you have heard this brand, but it existed. Don't know if they are still around. Imagine a black Pallas Jazz shoe with rubber studs below; that is Fung Keong. It wasn't pretty, but I am really proud of that boots. I remembered kicking a ball for the first time using that boots. The feeling was amazing. As a kid, I felt like for the first time, I achieved something. Good times.

During my early teens, my tendencies of owning a particular thing have shifted along a new set of things. Toys are no longer in my mind. I started to obsessed about things that have anything to do with music. I began obsessing about guitars. I started going to gigs and imagining myself to be on the stage, rocking the hell out of my strings. I never got to buy a guitar at that time, as my farther was strongly opposing it. In fact, I only got my first guitar about 10 years later, during my tertiary studies, as a gift from my brother; an acoustic Santa Cruz. The feeling was mutual. I went into the guitar shop, and there she was. Ready to be plucked. Ready to be held in my arms. It was like love at first sight. I remembered plucking it for the first time. The tunes stuck on me for a very long time. She's still here now. Beautiful and amazing as always.

I remembered the first thing I bought with my very first paycheck, working as a Customer Service Assistant in Caltex Section 3, Shah Alam. I always wanted to buy a watch. As I am quite an outdoor person, a strong and reliable watch comes to mind. Then I saw it; a G-Shock watch. That is the very first thing I bought with my very first paycheck. And it's a damn good watch as well. I rarely get it off my wrist. In fact, I only took it off while bathing. It followed me while I camping, swimming, playing sports, jogging, even sleeping. I even wore it when I climbed my first mountain in Cameroon Highlands. I still own it, although the strap is broken. I am going to fix it.

Until now, the feeling of craving and obsessions are still a big part of my life. I know, we are all trained to be consumers, working jobs we hate so that we can buy something we don't need. I know that. But shit, the feelings of owning something you truly desire are overwhelming, satisfying your obsession, lighting up your day, making life worth living. Okay, I'm exaggerating. You get the idea.

Why am I writing this? Two reasons; Firstly, this is the entry that came across my mind today, about the whole consumerism and male obsession thing. Secondly, I just bought something that is truly something I desire and obsess about for many a years. Something I learned about thoroughly, and understand the mechanism behind it. Something I always wanted to own, but somehow just didn't happen.

I bought a Zippo.

I know, I know. Some of you might be thinking, "What the fuck? A Zippo? That's it? You have been obsessing about a Zippo?" You might be thinking that I only have the right to brag if I bought an iPhone, or a Macbook, or an Ed Hardy original t-shirt, or a BMW. Doesn't matter to me. I don't desire those things. Never even think about thinking to own them. Except for the BMW. But that is a totally different thing. I obsess about Zippo, ever since I started smoking in 2003. I see it more than just a smoking paraphernalia. I see it as a collector's item. Something to be very proud of. Everything about it captivates me. Every markings, the sound it makes when the top is fling open, the flame it produces, the maintenance aspects, the shine of its finish, everything. I even watched videos on interesting ways to light the Zippo. I just love that thing. And I am very proud that I can finally own one.

Big deal, you say? Well, I don't really care what you think. All I care about, is that I finally own something I crave for, something I obsess about. I have satisfied my male obsession for now.

The feeling I get when I light my first cigarette using my own Zippo?
Simply exquisite, out of this world experience.

The very basis step to resolve arguments between two parties over a certain aspect of business activities, is determining whether there is a valid contract between those two parties.

In Sri Kajang Rock Products Sdn Bhd vs Mayban Finance Bhd (1992), Justice VC George stated that:

"To constitute a valid contract,
there must be a separate and definite parties thereto,
those parties must be in agreement,
that is, there must be consensus ad idem,
those parties must intend to create legal relations
in the sense that the promises of each sides are to be enforceable
simply because they are contractual promises
and the promises of each party must be supported by consideration."

Under the Malaysia Contracts Act 1950, Section 10(1) stated 'all agreements are contracts if they are made by the free consent of parties competent to contract, for a lawful consideration and with a lawful object, and are not hereby expressly declared to be void'. The term 'free consent' is later defined in Section 13, which stated that 'two or more persons are said to consent when they agree upon the same thing in the same sense'. The intentions to create legal relations point to the intention of getting into legal enforceability after an offer or proposal is to be accepted, hence creating a situation where the parties involved can either sue or be sued. Something dawned upon me today. Just now. In class.

I'm taking the ACCA's F5 paper this semester - Performance Management.

In class today, I was given a question on the topic 'Make or Buy Decision'. The requirement of the question is pretty simple - determine whether a company should make a certain product by themselves or to buy it from a third party. Both of the options have their own pros and cons. The goal of the exercise is simple, maximise profit.

Upon calculations, I have determined that buying the product from the third party will be more profitable compared to making it, as the contribution per unit is much higher. Therefore, I chose that option for my final answer. As a result, that company will forgo 72 people from its production line as they were no longer needed to make the product. A redundancy of $4000 is paid to each of them as a compensation for such action. With that, the company can increase its profit by 37.56% compared to the previous year. I get the answer correct, and my analysis is spot on.

Then, this occurred to me - by making calculations within 15 minutes, I have come to the conclusion that I will fire 72 people from the company. In order to maximise profit. Those 72 people's fate is in my hand for 15 minutes, and eventually I decided to let them go. Even though a compensation will be given, it is still quite terrifying. Although this was only an example, I'm beginning to think what accountants can do in real life. Simply cutting workers to maximise profit. Within 15 minutes. I know there a lot more considerations that will be put before making such decisions. But still, it can and must be done to ensure the company meet such objectives.

Aku teringat satu kisah, masa zaman aku sekolah menengah dulu. Time tu aku form 2. Aku dengan member aku dipanggil ke bilik penyelia petang. Aku sebab rambut panjang, member aku sebab kantoi hisap rokok kat toilet.

Mak bapak member aku tu kena datang. Mak bapak aku takyah. Apalah sangat rambut panjang. Paling koman pun ade sesi potong rambut tepi bangunan sekolah. Si tukang gunting rambut tu tak lain tak bukan penyelia petang aku sendiri. Cis.

Masa mak bapak member aku tu sampai, aku dok kat luar bilik penyelia. Tengah tunggu turn. Aku pun curi dengar perbincangan dorang kat dalam bilik.

Penyelia: Anak encik ni ditangkap merokok di dalam toilet sekolah. Ini adalah kes yang serius. Saya tidak ingin bawa kes ini ke atas kerana akan menyusahkan anak encik.

Bapa: La, saya tak tahu pula anak saya ni hisap rokok. Lepas ni boleh la saya pow dia je.

Sumpah benda ni jadi. Aku tak tipu. Seingat aku, suasana dalam bilik tu sunyi sepi untuk beberapa minit.

Reaksi aku? Aku cuma berdekah je.

Dua tiga hari lepas tu, aku nampak member aku ni merokok dengan bapak dia dalam kereta sebelum masuk sekolah. Siap dengan mak dia sekali merokok.

I never thought parting with a car can be so emotional.

It did. As I did. Just now.

The car, Proton Iswara Aeroback, has been with us for about 12 years now. It has been a faithful and loyal car to us, especially to my siblings. My sister was trained to drive with that car. So did I. My father will let us drove around the neighbourhood, while teaching us the proper way to drive, with that car. It has been very patience with us, especially when we just started learning. All the screeching and ramming. All the sudden brakes and near misses. It stood by, and guide us all the way.

We had a few accidents along the way with it. Nothing serious, just some dents. The colour of the car is still vibrant, with no signs of aging, minus a few rusty area here and there. The fuel inside the car was seldom full. Most of the time, the meter will show only a quarter of fuel left. Yet, as we become very familiar with the car, we know its limits and capabilities. More often than not, we pushed it to the limits, to the extend that we nearly ran out of gas. But it persevered, and it drives on.

I personally become very intimate with the car. Yes, I do talked to it sometimes. It became alive to us. My sister even gave it a name.

And now it must go. A new car is coming in, and it has became too old. My father wanted to sell it quickly before the value become even lower. Today it ran its final trip with us, and I have the honour of driving it for the last time.

This is my appreciation to the car.

I came across something rather interesting today.

As I was making my way back to the car after the LRT ride from my college, I came across a young family; a parents which is in their early 30s, with their son which is about 3 or 4 years old, I guess. They were walking right next to me to the parking lot towards their car, which I later find out was parked right next to me.

They seemed like a very loving family. The father was carrying his child in his arm, while racing with the mother towards, laughing and cheering all the way. The small boy was laughing too, cheering for his mom who is way, way back. They were all laughing all the time, with a big smile on their faces.

It turns out to be that the mother is the one who will doing the driving, while the father and the boy sat on the passenger seat, still laughing from their small and happy race. I thought to myself, what a beautiful sight, to see a family as happy and as loving as this.

Then, the father, with the boy still sitting on his, light up his cigarette and start puffing away. While the boy is sitting right on his lap, right in front on his face.

I am disgusted.
All the beautiful moments were gone by now.

To whom it may concern.

I haven't been writing for quite some time now. The last post, the things about the effects of terrorism, is being posted just because I saw that there are no other postings in the month of April. So, I posted that article, the one I did previously for a good friend of mine, well, just because. I'm kind of proud of that one.

I've been admitted into the training group set up by my lecturer for F2 paper in ACCA. I'm proud of that. I am. After 5 years in Mechanical Engineering, this is the only time where I felt that I am achieving something in my studies, that I am actually going somewhere. Inside the group, we, me and my three groupmates, are being blasted with tonnes of questions, to be completed and presented in the end of the week. The questions are far beyond the expectations of the ones inthe actual F2 exams. It's far more harder, trickier, and need to be presented in an essay form, not the usual Multiple Choice Question (MCQ). It's a good exercise; practicing on a far more harder question, before attempting on the real thing. But it is damn hard, and really time consuming. My sister is getting married in 1 month time, so all the preparations will have to be completed prior to that date. The group's discussion is on at least twice a week, classes are now twice a week, revision classes are getting nearer and clashes with my sister's wedding, and exam is just around the corner. I needed composure to get through this month-of-hell.

My workload is getting heavier. It's predicted. During the final month of study, students will now realize that there are assignments to be done, reports to be completed, thesis to be submitted. And they all turns to me now. But the workload is so overwhelming, I have to decline almost half of the clients. I am truly sorry about that. But there is nothing I can do. There are priorities. I am abide to them.

I am getting less and less exercise nowadays. No more futsal on Tuesday, my team is no longer playing frequently on weekends, and I am no longer jogging around my neighbourhood every morning. I have been eating a lot too, with no regards of its content and nutritional value. And no particular regards to my skin condition. I am itching like hell right now. Shit.

Football? Man Utd still got the chance. If they don't win it, it's expected. Simple as that.

But really, does anyone really cares for this shit?

The Effects of Terrorism Towards the Hotel and Tourism Industries

Ever since the 9/11 attack which took place in New York City, America in 2001, the world is never the same again. Since then, more and more terrorists’ actions are being reported throughout the world, almost on a daily basis. Following the unfortunate and deliberate action by the terrorists, people’s fear on such occurrences has increased twice fold. This, in return, has changed the world’s perceptions on such activity. Two major wars, for example, have broken out under the Bush administration, resulting in a massive death toll suffered by either side. Securities have been tightened, and more people are losing their liberty and freedom due to it. Furthermore, such incidents have truly affected the overall world’s hotel and tourism industry, which showed significant downfall due to acts of terrorism. ISHC (2004) has referred to the terrorism act as one of the top ten global issues and challenges in the hospitality industry.

Francesco Frangialli, the Secretary-General of the United Nations World Tourism Organisation (UNWTO), was cited as saying that “unprecedented and brutal act of terrorism is likely to have profoundly negative consequences for domestic and international tourism” and characterized terrorism as "an enemy of peace and tourism”. Such allegations truly have truth in it. Graham Miller of University of Westminster in London stated that tourism is the world’s number one industry, and the services are reliant on people’s safety and security, either physically or financial. Both, however, are threatened by terrorisms. The tourism industry generates substantial economic benefits to both host countries and tourists' home countries. The main benefits of tourism to a country are foreign exchange earnings, tax revenues, business opportunities for budding entrepreneurs, and employment for workers in the industry. According to the UNWTO, tourism is one of the top five export categories for as many as 83% of countries and is the main source of foreign exchange earnings for at least 38% of countries, while the World Travel and Tourism Council estimates that tax contributions related to tourism worldwide were US $800 billion in 1998. The hotel accommodation sector alone provided around 11.3 million jobs worldwide in 1995, according to the United Nations Environmental Programme (UNEP), with UNWTO estimates that tourism represents 7% of jobs worldwide. According to UNWTO in 2009, the worldwide contribution of tourism to gross domestic product (GDP) is estimated at some 5%. Tourism’s contribution to employment tends to be slightly higher and is estimated in the order of 6-7% of the overall number of direct and indirect jobs. However, terrorisms’ act will certainly play a huge role in diminishing such figures as it can bring the whole industry down. Goss (2003) has cited Marvin Cetron, stating that “The economy is like an 800-pound gorilla. When it is down, hospitality is one of the first sectors to be hit,” Post 9/11 showed that the economy stalled and fear of further terrorist acts sent travel and tourism into a nosedive, reducing occupancy rates at hotels such in New York City to around 40 percent. Even usually recession-proof destinations like Washington, Orlando and Las Vegas saw sharp and lasting declines in business and leisure travel. The adverse effect of terrorism towards the hotel and tourism can also be seen in Egypt, where a terrorist attack targeting visitors to the Temple of Hatshepsut in Luxor, threw Egypt's tourism industry into turmoil. Visitor arrivals to Egypt declined by 13.8 per cent from 1997 to 1998, and Egypt's international tourism receipts decreased by 45.4 per cent in 1998 compared to 1997.

Marvin Cetron (2006) has cited Demicco and Fannin, in stating five measures and solutions that can be taken by hotel industry to overcome such effects. First of all, hotel’s managements should change the norm perception that beefing up hotel’s security will affect the brand name and price of the hotel. This is not true as today’s consumer considers safety to be among the most important factors when selecting a hotel. Secondly, hotels should create a culture shift from a culture of liability paranoia to one obsessed with guest and employee safety. Hotels should also refer to credible sources when assessing terrorist threats in their hotels. For example, in America, the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) and the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) provide standards such as NFPA 1600 for national emergency preparedness and business continuity and NFPA 730-2006, which is designed to reduce security vulnerabilities to life and property. Apart from that, management should perform pre-employment background checks and develop comprehensive site security/emergency management plans based upon a security vulnerability assessment. Systematic risk assessment must also be regarded as mandatory and its function should be continuous in the hotel.

Silence is golden.

When we're younger, teachers tried to instill this into us. Heck, my class even cut out this phrase from a manila card and paste it on the wall. That time, I always thought it was just a mean to keep us quiet. You know how primary students can drive you up the wall. Shut up and learn; that's the whole point.

But nowadays, I see the phrase in a total different way.

Achieving silence is hard nowadays. No, I am referring to a situation where everyone keeps their mouth shut. I referring to the moment where you feel at peace, solitary, calm. Where you can just shut any sounds from outside and be at peace with yourself. Where you can hear yourself think. Where you and your mind are being left alone without any external sources. Where you can just inhale and be at peace. Where you are at the centre of the universe.

Peace, solitary, calm.
No sound, no pressure, no yapping, no nagging, no honking.
Nothing.

Finding peace and quiet is hard. Many people find other alternative to seek such grail. Putting a mute on everything will not do any good. The problems and constant irritation will not go away. Trust me. I tried.

Music gives me that. The euphoria I get when I play my guitar is so overwhelming. Anyone who are really passionate about guitar will say the same thing to you. There are moments when you start playing, and somehow the energy from it flows into you. You are then lost in the oblivion. You can somehow close your eyes and feels the power of the tune. Ever seen the expression on any guitarist when they are playing? That cannot be faked. For some reason, that power becomes one with your soul, and your emotions and actions are determined by it. The euphoria. The tingling sensation. The mojo. Your mojo.

And for that brief period of moment, I achieve absolute silence.
Absolute peace, solitary, calm.
And it's worth it, every single second of it.
It is golden.

I went to accompany my brother to the hospital today, to go and check his torn ligament tissue in his left knee. And this is what I have learned today.

Do you know, that our body has a natural fail-safe locking mechanism? Imagine this: You are running, or jogging, or playing futsal, whatever. Suddenly, you twist your ankle, or torn your ligament as such in my brother's case. Your body will sense such occurrences immediately, and without even telling your brain, that particular area of your body will go into lock down. The muscles and tissues surrounding the hurt area will begin to be alerted of such injury, and began to swell, causing the movement in that area to be limited, and possibly even to be shut down immediately. This is to resist your body to inflict further damage, and to protect that injured area from further injuries. As a result, the injured area is now protected by its very own cocoon of protection.

I'm currently in the middle of completing a thesis on the topic 'Recruitment and Selection' for a master student.

I'm using the Harvard system, which stated that a paper must be consisted of at least an introduction, a literature review, a discussion, and a conclusion.

For the literature review, I'm doing a case study which compares the R&S of three countries, which are Egypt, Ireland, and United Kingdom. Plus a study on the Hispanic overview on the matter.

I should be getting a certificate out of this. I've done thesis for master students ranging from the management field to human resource to facility management. I've done final year project reports for mechanical engineering student, hotel and management students, accountancy students. I've written reports, assignments, essays, even constructing the whole text of a forum. I've been checking papers written by others to pass the watchful eyes of their English lecturers. I've researched about a subject I don't have any clue about, and that person still get an A and obtained their diploma and degree. Even my thesis for master student gains recognition and approval from their lecturers and mentors.

And I am only a SPM holder.

Life In The 1500's

The next time you are washing your hands and complain because the water temperature isn't just how you like it, think about how things used to be. Here are some facts about the 1500's:

Most people got married in June, because they took their yearly bath in May and still smelled pretty good by June. However, they were starting to smell, so brides carried a bouquet of flowers to hide the body odor.
Hence the custom today of carrying a bouquet when getting married.

Baths consisted of a big tub filled with hot water. The man of the house had the privilege of the nice clean water, then all the other sons and men, then the women and finally the children! Last of all the babies.By then the water was so dirty you could actually lose someone in it. Hence the saying, "Don't throw the baby out with the bath water."

Houses had thatched roofs-thick straw-piled high, with no wood underneath. It was the only place for animals to get warm, so all the cats and other small animals (mice, bugs) lived in the roof. When it rained it became slippery and sometimes the animals would slip and off the roof.
Hence the saying "It's raining cats and dogs."

There was nothing to stop things from falling into the house. This posed a real problem in the bedroom where bugs and other droppings could mess up your nice clean bed. Hence, a bed with big posts and a sheet hung over the top afforded some protection. That's how canopy beds came into existence.

The floor was dirt. Only the wealthy had something other than dirt.
Hence the saying "dirt poor."

The wealthy had slate floors that would get slippery in the winter when wet, so they spread thresh (straw) on floor to help keep their footing. As the winter wore on, they added more thresh until when you opened the door it would all start slipping outside. A piece of wood was placed in the entranceway. Hence the saying a "thresh hold."

In those old days, they cooked in the kitchen with a big kettle that always hung over the fire. Every day they lit the fire and added things to the pot. They ate mostly vegetables and did not get much meat. They would eat the stew for dinner, leaving leftovers in the pot to get cold overnight and then start over the next day. Sometimes stew had food in it that had been there for quite a while. Hence the rhyme, "Peas porridge hot, peas porridge cold, peas porridge in the pot nine days old."

Sometimes they could obtain pork, which made them feel quite special. When visitors came over, they would hang up their bacon to show off. It was a sign of wealth that a man could "bring home the bacon." They would cut off a little to share with guests and would all sit around and "chew the fat."

Those with money had plates made of pewter. Food with high acid content caused some of the lead to leach onto the food, causing lead poisoning death. This happened most often with tomatoes, so for the next 400 years or so, tomatoes were considered poisonous.

Bread was divided according to status. Workers got the burnt bottom of the loaf, the family got the middle, and guests got the top, or "upper crust."

Lead cups were used to drink ale or whisky. The combination would sometimes knock the imbibers out for a couple of days. Someone walking along the road would take them for dead and prepare them for burial. They were laid out on the kitchen table for a couple of days and the family would gather around and eat and drink and wait and see if they would wake up. Hence the custom of holding a "wake."

England is old and small and the local folks started running out of places to bury people. So they would dig up coffins and would take the bones to a "bone-house" and reuse the grave. When reopening these coffins, 1 out of 25 coffins were found t have scratch marks on the inside and they realized they had been burying people alive. So they would tie a string on the wrist of the corpse, lead it through the coffin and up through the ground and tie it to a bell. Someone would have to sit out in the graveyard all night (the "graveyard shift") to listen for the bell; thus, someone could be "saved by the bell" or was considered a "dead ringer."

And that's the truth.... Now, whoever said that History was boring !

It's official.
I hate certain KL drivers.
And it's driving me crazy.

I drove to class nowadays. No, I'm not bragging. It just that, KL drivers can be so fucking stupid and ignorance. Especially in the middle of town, from Jalan Ampang to Petaling Street (especially on these roads because it's the one I took to class).

First of all, do you guys really know what is sole purpose of the yellow box on the traffic light junction? When can you realise that you SHOULD stop whenever you see the traffic is not moving ahead? Stop being a nuisance to everyone else. Some people just drove off, hoping the traffic will move and they'll be able to squeeze in. It's a traffic jam goddamnit. Stop making that ignorant/pitiful/budget comel face when you're stuck in the middle and the light goes red. Don't look dumbfounded when people honked you. All of us are stuck in the same traffic jam. You're not the only who has to be somewhere. We're fed up too.

Secondly, fuck all the taxi and bus drivers who think they are the king of the road and can do whatever you want. Don't you read the sign of the bus/taxi lane? It said 8.00am to 9.00pm ONLY! Pass that, it became a normal left lane. Live with that. And stop tailgating motherfuckers. The closer you get, the more I get motivated to drive even slower. I don't care about the high beam or the honking. You are not getting any sympathy from me. Live with that too.

Thirdly, stop all the honking when you are stuck in the traffic jam. If the person in front of you is not moving, probably it is because they can't. It's a fucking jam. You are only making other people despises you when you honk. It's KL. You are bound to the traffic jam as long as you live here. Deal with it.

Lastly, don't just parked your cars as if your father is the mayor of KL. And even if you father is the mayor of KL, stop being the target of people's curses. People are cursing you if you parked like a son of a bitch. Use the proper parking spaces. Just pay for the goddamn parking fees. If you think it is not feasible, take a train bodoh.

Usually, I am patience.

The usage of 'Allah' in The Herald

To be honest, I did not follow this issue since it gained wide coverage on the MSM. Only recently, when a friend of mine brought it up in Facebook, after he was banned from a group that was against the ruling of High Court judge Lau Bee Lan on 31st December 2009. He was banned for merely expressing his own thoughts on what should be an open discussion. Nothing more than that. The reason? He did not aligned himself with the admins' point of view. I won't go much deeper than that. You get the point right?

I won't be talking about the issue either. Not because I am being nonchalant about the case. Or am I a coward for not being bold enough to question the matter at hand. Maybe I am one of those above. But the reason I decline to spoke on the issue, is simply because I do not think my knowledge on the subject is deep enough for me to question the issue and convey my own thoughts. What I learned, believed, and practiced about Islam is moderate, and not to the extend of giving facts to the non-Muslims on why this matter is such a delicate issue. I leave that to those with a more in-depth education on the subject of Islam. They are the people who is responsible for clearing the issue and give their best in standing up and educate the public on the matter.

But what I do like to sigh about, is the reaction by most of us Muslims in Malaysia. Let me put the group in Facebook as an example. After taking about 1 hour reading through all the comments being left there, I can only conclude 1 thing - most of people there are politically motivated. One people blaming another party, while the other gallantly supported their own political party and accused the other of not being a true Muslim. Then they continue quarreling and arguing without any solid idea or facts, the one that is true to the matter of discussion. Anyone who are against their views is regarded as ignorant and does not know a thing about being a Muslim. What the hell? These people are accused of a lot of things, and were subjected to a hail of abuses from others. Just because they are speaking their mind. Let me tell one thing. Being a discussion, it is normal for human to have different opinions on things. And just because you and they did not think alike, doesn't mean they are not a good Muslim. That's that.

Another thing, why do we Malaysians, especially Malays, always like to turn into violence in order to redeem ourselves, or to speak out our minds? Do we always have to take it to the streets? In this notion, I would like to agree with drrafick. We have many solid and legal ways for us to voice out our concerns on the matter. Trust me, majority of Muslims in Malaysia are very concerned right now. They would like to know the consequences and implications of this ruling in the future. But most of us would like a solution to made via a legal way, a legal system, without having to brush our shoulders with the authority. Yes, we don't want others to use the name 'Allah' freely as it is a very sensitive issue. Complications will arise in the future, and most of us would like to resolve this issue as delicately as possible. There is no need for demonstrations and violence. There are also some idiot who claims that another '13 May' is possible. Blood might be spilled in order to gain victory. Please stop all this nonsense. You want others to respect your sensitivity. Please respect others'.

I believe that this issue has gained unnecessary attention due to the reactions of our political figures and the MSM. There are people who are using the issue as their propaganda, just to received some popular votes from the people. That is why this seems to go haywire. Or about to.

I believe that a devout Muslim will be concerned about the matter, but not to the extend of killing for it. If we are truly concerned about this, why not arresting those who went to bars and drink during the Isya' azan? Or men who go to McDonalds and ordered a large Value Meal during the holy Ramadhan month? My point is, the strength of Islam comes from within. If a Muslim does not show the true beauty of Islam, and continues to be sinners and break any Islamic laws without any shame or remorse, how can they go out and voice their hatred to the non-Muslims? How can they fight for Islam, when they are not fulfilling the five Rukun Islam? How can they speak, when they themselves are shallow on the holy religion itself?

I believe that this matter is only peanuts compared to the problems Islam is facing right now. We have to set straight ourselves first. The strength will come from within, when every Muslim follows the right path and work together is strengthening Islam. Not go side by side throwing stones at the police while skipping the Zohor prayers.

Handling with defeat

Recently, two of my friends were facing the same dilemma I was facing around exactly 1 year ago - getting dismissed from their university. For most of you guys out there, you'll never get that experience, knock on wood. I wouldn't want that to happen to you. Trust me, it is one of the most terrifying and painful period of my life. The agony in which follows after the incident was hard to bear. Getting dismissed from studies is not like breaking up with our partners, or getting booed during a performance, or getting stuck up by anyone, or something like that. It is far more excruciating. This is your whole life your messing up with. Your future. What is going to be your bread and butter. You will feel very low. It will going to be very depressing. And it is going to be messy. That happened to me. There are times where I feel like running away from everything, move somewhere else, and starting a whole new life altogether. I did felt relieved that the thought of suicide or drinking away all my problems never came across my mind.

This is going to be a period where most of us will start losing our mind. Losing hope. Losing the guiding light. In the wake of the unfortunate events that have befallen my friends, I would like to share my experience in dealing with this temporary setback.

First of all, do know for a fact that this is only a temporary setback. That is all to it. This defeat is not eternal, unless you want it to be. You are in control of life. At best, this should be regarded as an eye-opener for us to reevaluate our life and tune it up to the optimum level. As quoted from Mary Pickford, "... this thing we call 'failure' is not the falling down, but the staying down". I myself found refuge under that quote. It gave me sense of relief, and sense of empowerment.
Once you set the record straight, you can then start resetting your life, and guide it to the best possible way. It is okay to grief, but most people took a long time to do such a thing. Extended period of grieving will do you more harm than good. Grief, when it used wisely, will turn into ponder, and that will be the catalyst for you to change the defeat into the first step of success. Grief too long, and you will start to feel the pressure and will start to think very lowly on yourself. Stop blaming someone for your failure, and that someone includes yourself. Blaming people for your mistakes will forever keep you at the bottom. Don't care about others might think of you. As long as people have mouth, they will talk. Forget them. As we Malay said it, jangan amik port. Let them speak. What is important is what you think of yourself. Consider their talking as a catalyst to propel you forward, not taking you down.
Reevaluate your life, and start to discover your true potential. Take me for an example. I studied technical science when I was in Form 4, then I further my studies in Mechanical Engineering. I failed the first time. After that, I didn't take time to look into myself, and took the same course at a different IPTA. I failed again, after 4 years (yes, I was dismissed 2 times from 2 different IPTA). The biggest mistake I did was clear to see. It is written on the wall that I am not cut out to do engineering. I may have start early, but then I failed. I refused to take this in the beginning, and I ended up with the same result. It took me 5 years to finally gave up in engineering and pursue other courses. Don't do the same mistakes as I did. 5 years is a lot of time. So rethink what you know about yourself. It is never too late. Discover your potentials or your passion. Follow your instincts. Trust yourself.
Try, in any way possible, to turn your life 180 degrees. Try different things. Find a new hobby. Take up reading, or cooking, or sewing. Or go to the gym. Or be a volunteer in something. Take up guitar lesson. Whatever you feel best. Venture into new territories. Open wide for changes. Never be afraid of changes. Changes are what you need right now. Stop being mundane. Stop continue living in the past. Open up new possibilities. You might never know what is installed behind every door. Start planning your daily life. Set a life target. And always remember, you may have failed before, but that doesn't mean that you are doomed to fail forever. It is only a temporary setback. Always remember that. By doing new things, you will start to feel better about yourself. The burden will slowly be relieved from your shoulder. Start to feel good about yourself. It will truly help.
Work very hard from now onwards. As for myself, I have wasted 5 years of life. I will never get that back. But the best thing I can do right now, is to make up for the years I've lost. I have find my solace now. I am now being surrounded by those who loves me, and those who cares. I am working very hard right now. And I am sure anyone of us can do the same thing.

I believe in you. That is why I am compelled to write this entry.

This is a great movie. I'm not good in giving out ratings to any movie I've watched, so that's that. Overall, it is a great movie to watch. It really makes your head wonders throughout the movie, wondering on the motive and the morale behind the story. The storytelling involves a lot of symbolism to convey the idea (to me at least). It shows how hard it is to make the right choices, and how easy it is to make a bad one. For example, climbing up to the clouds will force the person to climb a very tall and dangerous ladder. It also shows the prospect of having to lose or sacrifice something in order to make the right decisions. For example, the lady in the red dress would have to gave up her material possessions and the chance of having a one night stand with Tony (played by Johnny Depp), and having to travel alone in the gondola, to make the right choice and gained happiness in the end (you can see how thrilled she is when she's swinging on the set). If you can decipher all these symbolism planted in the movie, you can see how beautiful this movie is. Overall, the movie is dark. You can think of any Tim Burton's movie. But really, it is a great movie to watch.

All this while, I've been spending time here reading other people's blog. There are some good writing, there are some post that are not. That's normal. But that's not what I have in mind right now.

Some people are free to open up and tell the world what are they thinking about. Or protesting about. Or something they wanted to share with others. That's good in my opinion. The sky is the limit here. But then, that is not what I have in mind right now.

What's really bugging me, is the lack of good writing coming from myself. My postings are completely norm and mundane. And boring even to myself.

I should write more. I should express myself more.
Yeah, that is what I want to do.

I'm a sucker for great movies. Well, the terms great movies vary from one person to another. The definition of great movies is very abstract, as people tends to categorised differently from one another. Ok, this is not what I'm going to write.

I wanted to share with you this great movie.
12 Angry Men, debuted on July 1957.

Plot Summary:

"12 Angry Men" focuses on a jury's deliberations in a capital murder case. A 12-man jury is sent to begin deliberations in the first-degree murder trial of an 18-year-old Latino accused in the stabbing death of his father, where a guilty verdict means an automatic death sentence. The case appears to be open-and-shut: The defendant has a weak alibi; a knife he claimed to have lost is found at the murder scene; and several witnesses either heard screaming, saw the killing or the boy fleeing the scene. Eleven of the jurors immediately vote guilty; only Juror No. 8 (Mr. Davis) casts a not guilty vote. At first Mr. Davis' bases his vote more so for the sake of discussion after all, the jurors must believe beyond a reasonable doubt that the defendant is guilty. As the deliberations unfold, the story quickly becomes a study of the jurors' complex personalities (which range from wise, bright and empathetic to arrogant, prejudiced and merciless), preconceptions, backgrounds and interactions. That provides the backdrop to Mr. Davis' attempts in convincing the other jurors that a "not guilty" verdict might be appropriate.

This is why I am labeling it as a great movie:

Honestly, how many movies have you seen in which the recording was only made in 1 set? About 98% of the whole 96 minutes on the movie took place inside a room (in the beginning, a brief moment inside the court house, then in middle of the movie another brief moment inside the men's room). But the intensity of the film is amazing. It doesn't need extra shots of the crime, or additional emotional scene which will induced bias feelings amongst viewers. The characters of the films were introduced slowly but steadily, giving enough time for them to mature and gel together to make up to the whole film. The lighting and camera angle of the room makes it feel claustrophobic, adding to the intensity of the movie. No killing or blood or gruesome murder are needed to make the movie intense. It's strictly plot driven and the growth of the movie depends heavily on the dialogues and emotions of the actors. It's really an awesome movie, trust me.

The 2012 European Championship qualification seedings have been announced, with Croatia a surprise inclusion in the group of top seeds.

Euro 2008 champions Spain and beaten finalists Germany are joined by some familiar names in Pot One, though Croatia will be a top seed despite not even making the World Cup play-offs after finishing third in their qualifying group behind England and Ukraine.

An inconvenient truth

My internet has been down for the last 3 or so weeks.
I can't connect at all. Maybe for 30 minutes every 2,3 days, but that's all.

Here's what happened.

My broadband service provider is Maxis.
My bill has amounted to nearly RM120 the last month, with additional RM10 for 'Extra charges'. I don't even know what that is until now.

After so much difficulty connecting to the internet, my sis called Maxis Customer Service.
The first couple of times, she was put on hold, then the line was cut! I don't know about you guys, but customer service should not be like that. Who the hell will put a customer, I repeat, A PAYING CUSTOMER, on hold just to be cut the next minute.

A few days after that, my sister called Maxis again. Fortunately, we managed to get through. And this is what the customer service officer told her:

'The maximum speed allowed for my account is 3Mps. However, I have exceeded the speed provided, in which I have used up to 3.4Mps. Therefore, my line was put on hold and suspended temporarily until further notice'

My first reaction - WHAT THE FUCK?

How can we limit our usage? It's supposed to be unlimited broadband (or that is what the advertisement and the diligent and articulate salesperson told me). How on earth can I know what kind of speed I'm on? Just for your information, Maxis broadband is not that stable at all. There are good times, and bad times. Before this, there are even the clauses and regulations where we can't download anything before 12am. The window for downloading is only opened between 12am till around 6 or 7am. At first, that's ok with me. Soon after, that regulations were terminated. Even better. The bill is getting pricier. Maybe Maxis is upgrading its services.

But this? I can't think of any logical point behind that explanation. It's not like I'm using a server-like computer. How can I exceed that limit? Is there really a limit? How can I monitor my usage? And do my internet connection really goes up to 3Mps?

My advice to Maxis is, if you want to bluff or sell some shit, make sure it's logical. Or at least there is some strong points to strengthen your claim. Customers are not always stupid. We are paying for your service. As far as I'm concerned, we are one of your stakeholders. If we stop using your service, your company will be ran to the ground.

So stop all the nonsense, and do try to give some kind of satisfaction to us

I am a sucker for mafia movies. The concept of mafia, gangster, wise man, la cosa nostra really intrigues me. Their way of living, the crimes, the manner of their crimes, their hierarchy, the internal system, their life code, the omerta or the vow of silence, all of it seems to be fascinating to me.

Try reading the book entitled 'The Godfather' by Mario Puzo, and tell me that you didn't dream of becoming the likes of Michael Corleone. The book is like a guidebook in how to be a man. Trust me. You will find abundance of quotes, morale, and behaviour that are very much appealing and seems kinda like a complete guide in becoming a complete man. The way you should treat your family, the way you should treat your friends, the way you should run business, the way you should perform revenge, the 'cool factor' you must possessed, the calm factor in dealing in our daily life. Damn, it felt so good if you belong to a mafia family. It's good to become a godfather. It's good to become a don, or bosses of all bosses.

Makanan sahur

Sekarang pukul 2.50am. Aku tengah pikir nak masak apa untuk sahur nanti. Jadi alang-alang, apa kata aku share dengan korang apa aku nak masak jab lagi. Hahaha

Sepanjang bulan Ramadhan, aku yang handle bab-bab sahur ni. Mak aku dah prepare makanan untuk buka, apa salahnya aku prepare sahur kan? Lagipun aku je yang tak tidur lagi time-time ni, so alang-alang better aku siapkan sahur sekali. At least nampak gak la contribution aku dalam family aku ni.

Biasanya, aku akan panaskan je leftover dari makanan buka hari sebelumnya. Selalunya banyak lebih. Mak aku memang beli extra skit supaya boleh makan untuk sahur sekali. Lagipun standard la time buka kan, semua lauk nampak sedap. Semua lauk nak beli. So confirm ada extra punya. Masak nasi lebih skit, dah bleh dapat proper meal untuk sahur. Masuk microwave, tekan-tekan sikit lebih kurang, 15 minit kemudian dah boleh start makan.

Pastu aku kejut bapak aku. Ketuk-ketuk pintu sikit, dia dah bangun. Nasib baik dia tak liat nak bangun macam aku.

Tapi kadang-kadang boring gak makan nasi lauk ni. Perut kadang-kadang belum dapat adjust lagi. So depends la kat lauk. Kalau agak-agak lauk tinggal sikit or tak berapa best, aku akan masak nasi goreng. Ala kadar je. Taruk bawang putih, bawang besar, cili, udang kering, sayur, telur, pastu bubuh nasi. Kalau nak rasa macam nasi goreng cina skit, taruk butter skit. Tumis kasi wangi, bubuh nasi, setel. Makan ngan bawang goreng. Perghh, perut gua lak yang lapar sekarang.

Kalau dah boring sangat makan nasi, aku suka buat french toast. Celup roti dalam telur, pastu goreng pakai butter. Buat banyak-banyak. Confirm kenyang nya. Perut family aku ni kecik-kecik je, so aku tak risau sangat.

Tapi pagi ni special skit. 2 hari lepas, aku belajar resipi nak buat tuna roll dari mak girlfriend aku. Senang je rupanye. Tak leceh. Akak aku lak suka makan tuna. Pastu dia pandai nak prepare tuna yang sedap. Bubuh tuna dalam roti yang dah dilenyek, gulung dia, celup dalam telur, goreng. Aku determine nak masak tu pagi ni. Cam best je kan.

FIFA hit Chelsea with transfer ban until 2011

FIFA have banned Chelsea from registering players for the enxt two transfer windows, meaning they will not be able to make any new signings until January 2011, after being found guilty of inducing French teenager Gael Kakuta to breach his contract with Lens.

The 18-year-old winger joined Chelsea from the Ligue 1 side in 2007, after which the French club lodged a complaint with world football's governing body.

FIFA's Dispute Resolution Chamber (DRC) finally passed their decision on the contractual dispute on Thursday and handed down a hefty ban and substantial fine to the Blues.

A statement from FIFA read: "The DRC found that the player had indeed breached a contract signed with the French club. Equally, the DRC deemed it to be established that the English club induced the player to such a breach.

"As a result the player was condemned to pay compensation in the amount of €780,000, for which the club, Chelsea, are jointly and severally liable.

"A restriction of four months on his eligibility to play in official matches has been imposed on Kakuta. Chelsea are banned from registering any new players, either nationally or internationally, for the two next entire and consecutive registration periods following the notification of the present decision.

"Furthermore, the club, Chelsea, have to pay Lens training compensation in the amount of €130,000."

FIFA will now send official documentation to Stamford Bridge and upon receipt of those notification papers Chelsea will have 10 days in which to lodge an appeal with the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS). Given the severity of the punishment, it is almost certain the club will take that course of action.

Back in July 2005, Italian club Roma were similarly banned from signing players for a period of one year over the controversial signing of defender Philippe Mexes from French club Auxerre. However, on appeal the CAS later ordered FIFA to cut its ban to cover a single transfer window.

An interesting twist would surround the timing of Chelsea's appeal. It will be a number of weeks before the official papers are delivered to Stamford Bridge, from which time the club will have those 10 days to appeal. It then takes at least three months for the CAS to hear a case and that means it is highly possible Chelsea will be able to sign players for some or all of the January window.

This was the case with Roma when, after the CAS agreed to hear an appeal, their ban was suspended on August 8, 2005, allowing them to sign players for the remainder of that summer window. It took the CAS four months to hear Roma's case, and if the same happened to Chelsea it is likely that they would be unaffected in January.

Chelsea have been in trouble before over their transfer dealings and in June 2005 were found guilty of 'tapping-up' Arsenal defender Ashley Cole by the Premier League. The Blues were fined £300,000, Cole was fined £100,000 and then manager Jose Mourinho was fined £200,000.

Lille-born Kakuta, a skilful left-footed winger, is viewed as one of Chelsea's most promising young players, although injuries have blighted his time at Stamford Bridge. An excellent first season ended with the Frenchman being voted the Academy's Scholar of the Year after he emerged as the youth team's top scorer with 12 goals in 24 appearances, including six goals in Chelsea's Youth Cup run.

The 2008/09 season was a frustrating one for the France Under-17 international, who managed just seven appearances in total during an injury-curtailed campaign.

He overcame early-season hamstring problems to turn in a string of lively performances but his campaign was brought to a halt when he suffered a double ankle fracture in a friendly against the Glenn Hoddle Academy.

Kakuta's rehabilitation from the serious injury remains ongoing, although what kind of career awaits him at Chelsea on his return is now open to speculation.

What I can personally derive from the game:

Berbatov would have to start in each game, pairing with Rooney. Rooney is tightly marked last night, making it difficult for him to control possesion.
We're a bit weak in the central midfield. The link between them and the striker is not fluid enough. We have to rely heavily on our wing players ie. Valencia and Nani
Ryan Giggs's performance is dropping. Although his freekick led to the second goal (own goal by Diaby by the way), he was unable to link with Rooney fluently. He missed a few attacking opportunities. Sorry Giggs, you are a legend in Old Trafford, but in big games maybe you shouldn't start.
Vidic and Evra are strong as usual! Perhaps the return of Ferdinand will solve our defensive woes. Brown is not looking strong in the back.
Fletcher is doing really great!! For the past few games, he is becoming more mature. He really controls the midfield. Way to go!

The usage of plastic has become more popular in the world today. It has rapidly started to replace metal and ferrous material as the raw material in most of the industries. Plastic offers many advantages when it is compared with metal. It is easier to manufacture and comes in abundance, which means the supply of plastic will never cease. Besides that, it is lighter in weight, able to take complex shapes, can be made into a big varieties of colour, and is cheaper than metal. The usage of plastic will also contribute to the environment, in a way than mining of raw materials from the core of the earth can be reduced, thus solving many environmental issues nowadays. Plastics are actually chains of polymers held together by a strong but fluid bond. The reason a thin soda bottle is strong enough to withstand the pressure of carbonated liquids is a phenomenon called 'biaxial orientation.' The polymer chains in a plastic bottle form in two directions, creating a very strong webbing effect. The plastic itself can be stretched out without sacrificing strength. To produce such products from plastic, a unique kind of process will have to be implemented on the material. Such process is the blow molding.

Blow molding is also known as blow forming. Blow molding is basically a manufacturing process that is being used to form hollow plastics, such as plastic bottles. The history behind this process can be traced back to the ancient times, particularly is Syria during the first century. The Syrian at that period of time was the pioneers in using air to blow hot material. The method is then revised by the Europeans at the middle ages due to the increasing demand for bottles. A United Stated company, in 1851, further refined the method by introducing plastic to replace glass in the manufacturing process. The most significant improvement in the blow molding industry was marked by the production of a blow molding machine by Ferngren and Kopitke in 1938. The machine was then sold to Hartford Empire Company, putting a stamp in what seems to be the beginning of the commercialization of blow molding process throughout the world. Since then, the process was thoroughly reformed and refined to suit the demanding industry. The introduction of different types of thermoplastics, namely low-density polyethylene (LDPE), high-density polyethylene (HDPE), the polymerization both propylene and butylenes, polypropylene (PP), polyvinyl chloride (PVC), and the debut of biaxial oriented polyethylene terephthalate (PET) have further perfected the method and making it one the most sought after manufacturing there is.

Recently, there are four major types of blow molding process that are widely used in the industry. The first type is the extrusion blow molding. This type is regarded as the simplest type of blow molding. The process in which plastic parts are created is the basic fundamental of every other blow molding processes. The second type is the injection blow molding. This process combines injection molding and blow molding. The next type of process is the stretch blow molding. This process is best used when producing PET bottles which are usually used for water, juice, and other similar products. The stretch blow molding is currently being used for high-volume productions for multi-million worth of products. The fourth major blow molding process is the reheat and blow molding process. This process is a type of stretch blow process. The huge difference will be the stock mold, which is made by an outside vendor. The company which buys these molds will simply have to reheat it so it can be blown afterwards. Therefore, the cost which is bear by the company can be greatly reduced. However, advances in technologies allow more type of blow molding process to be produced. To name a few, the advancement in the process gave birth to a new breed of processes such as Coextrusion Blow Molding of Large Parts, Three-Dimensional Blow Molding, Hard-Soft-Hard and Soft-Hard-Soft Technology, Long-Glass-Fiber-Reinforced Blow Molding, and Blow Molding Foam Technology. Although the process may vary from one to another, it still holds the basic concepts and fundamentals of blow molding.

Blow molding offers many advantages to the industry to date. The main concerns for any engineering or manufacturing company will be cost. These concerns are greatly reduced when it comes to using blow molding process, because the tooling cost of a blow molding process is less than an injection molding. The maintenance costs are also usually lower. Besides that, the piece that is produced using this concept is much lower than any rotational molding process. Apart from that, blow molding process applies the concept of one piece construction. This means that there is no welding or gluing halves part together afterwards. This will save more time and cost in producing any items, apart from minimizing any weaknesses that may come in the joined parts. The seamless construction is very ideal for the productions of liquid filled or airtight containers as it is more durable. Items made from blow molding process also have excellent environmental stress crack resistance. Lastly, quick product revisions are allowed for items made from blow molding processes to increase flexibility.

However, blow molding process does have its disadvantages and limitations. The most obvious limitations that can be observed from the parts made by this process is that it is limited only for hollow and thin walled parts with low degree of asymmetry items. This means that the process is only capable of producing thin walled items that is round in shape such as water bottles. Other symmetrical shapes, such as rectangular or triangle can’t be produced using this method. Furthermore, it has poor control of the wall thickness of the end product. The surface finish of the material is also poor and prone to imperfections if the mold is not carefully inspected. Even though the equipments cost less from other method, it is still considered high due to its nature as a precision tool.

Today is probably one of the biggest letdown I have ever faced..

I have been working very hard for my exam
I didn't sleep, I studied all night
I did 3 sets of pilot exam paper
I even did the online mock question set that replicates the real CBE exam
Guess what, I scored 97%!!
I had a great sahur
I went to the college early
I waited for half an hour because the exam starts at 11pm
I did a bit of last minute reviewing
I'm pretty confident

10.58am - My name was called. The front-desk people told me that I am not allowed to sit for the paper because I didn't completed 2 other papers. It's a must.

WTF! You guys have my credentials, my personal information, my curriculum. You guys should notify me earlier, not 2 minutes before the goddamn exam!!! Didn't you check? Didn't you properly evaluate my current conditions before allowing me to sit for it? I've paid you guys early. Shit

You have to maneuver around 3 layers of packaging before you can actually get into the good stuff. Damn, even eating a Fruittela can be hard work nowadays.

During the first 6 weeks inside the womb, our body basically has no idea what gender we will be. Therefore, for the first 6 weeks, we are all female! After that, the body finally made up its mind, and our sex organs began to develop. But the nipples (and breast) have already been shaped, and the process cannot be reversed. So, we are stuck with it and voila.. we have nipples! Hehehe.

This also explained why men have a feminine side, and women does not have a muscular side.

If life is a battle..

... then why do we frown every time things doesn't go our way? Why do people around us ferociously belittle and judge us whenever we make mistakes? Why do we hurt ourselves even harder whenever things seem to be a constant uphill battle? Why can't people comfort us and say that we must learn from our mistakes and never put ourselves down, all the time? Why must people offend and discriminate us by labeling us a complete moron or a total loser? Why must people always be skeptical whenever we say that we want to improve ourselves? Why can't there even be a slight benefit of a doubt? Life is a battle, and within it are numbers of war. We can't be wining all the time, so what's wrong with losing a few? Does our own life must always be dictated by others? Do we always have to be norm? Do we always have to be in line with the society? Does a little rebel or a little anarchy inside of us can be that devastating? Why can't we follow our own heart, and decide for ourselves what is wrong and what is right? Do we always have to take things seriously? Must everything be only business? Do we have to be so uptight? Do we really have to be stern with ourselves? Do we always have to silence those whispers that came from our heart? Can't we let ourselves lose a little to gain a little? Can't we sometimes yearn for a little break from the hustle and bustle of life? Can't we cut a little slack for ourselves?

The sweet smile of our loves one, the sound of laughter when siblings get together, the content-looking eyes of our parents, the blooming of flowers outside our house, the affections shown by our pets, the comforting sight of an elderly couple sitting in their local kopitiam while changing years of love and affection that can be truly understand by them, the sight of happiness that is produced on the children playground, the satisfactions we get when we get a praise or a pat in the back when we did a good job, the joy of a wedding, the mutual respect and bond we gave birth to on an unorthodox places such as in a futsal court or during a camping trip, the harmonic sound that came out from our guitars whenever we pluck a note or strum a chord, the elated feelings we experienced when our loves one gives us a call saying how much they miss and love us, the sense of relief whenever we inhale air and knows that we are still alive. Do all of this escape our daily observation and went unnoticed all the time? Do we always have to view the negative side of our life and be stressed about it? Don't we have a choice? Can't we sometimes pause for a while and let our arms wide open for anything and anyone?

If life is a playground...

... then why can't we be happy all the time? Why can't we play and enjoy ourselves? Why can't we take any task and turned it into an enjoyable occasion? Why can't we be nice with another? Why can't we play along well with each other? Why must we throw hatred, discrimination, anger, rage, jealously, envy, gluttony, and others negative acts and thinking into the mix? Where is the love, respect, sweetness, affections, sugar and spice? Why can't we tolerate each other? Why must we always have to fight? Why can't we accept others' advantages and won't be judgmental about others' disadvantages? Why can't we be happy for others? Do we always have to be selfish? Do we always have to criticise others all the time? Are we really that cruel? Why must we always have something to nag about things but won't be nice once in a while? Do we always have to live in despair? Why can't we be a nice person? Why not?

Right now you must be thinking, what is wrong with me? Why must I be judgmental about everything? Why can't I be content and happy about my life?

This is not how I see my life. This is how you guys out there see your life. Am I right? Don't lie. Some people told me this all the time.

Life is what you want to see it. If you it is depressing, it is. If you think life is hard, it is. If you think life is wonderful, it is. If you think life if beautiful, it is. If you think life is giving the best to you, it is. If you think life is so stressful and full of problems, it is. What life is, is an eternal question that will not be answered by others either than yourself. You decide how your life is. If I were to tell you that your life's suck, do you believe me word by word? Do you let others judge your life? Do you let others decide for you whether your life is great or fucked up?

If I were to die today, how would I feel about my life? Would I be contented? Would I be happy? Would I be at ease? Will it effect some other's life? What would I say about living my life? Can I say that I'm happy with it? Can I say that my life is worth mentioning to others?

I have taste a few ups and downs. I have been through things that are worth mentioning, and are worth forgetting. I've known people that changed my life, and I've known people that are corrupting my life. I've walked on the safe side, and I've walked on the shitty part. I've been happy, I've been miserable, and I've been better.

Changes are hard. Changes can be easy. Changes doesn't have to be complicated. And changes mustn't be taken lightly. Self-made changes doesn't work. Maybe I am too suck to even change myself. Too weak to improve myself. Maybe I need someone else to propels me. To bring me up. To motivate and guide me.

Or maybe I really don't need anyone to make such an impact on me. Maybe I need the motivation from within. Maybe I need to wake up the dragon inside of me. He has been sleeping for quite some time now, and it's time for him to rise up to the challenge.

Or maybe there is no dragon after all. Just a squeamish mouse who occasionally made a lot of sound, but is too small to take any action.

Can I really fight for myself? Can I be in control?
Is it possible for me to be stronger?

My guitar is sulking. I've been too emotionally attached to it. And suprisingly, I knew my guitar's mood. Whether she is happy, or mad, or sad, or dejected, or sprightly, or sulking, or needs attention. I know, I know, it's weird. And I know those feelings are a reflection of my own. But sometimes we don't need logic. We only need the delusions of logic, and a sense of hope, and a glimmer of faith, citing that we can be in control of something. And that something can response back in a timely manner.

I just need to feel good about myself.

100 Things - Introduction

My sister and me went to NZ today (well, almost everyday actually..hehe). Then, we get into a serious discussion. The topic? How lame my life is right now. Huhuhu. You see, I don't really have enough excitement at this moment. My everyday life is kinda mundane. Day in and day out, it's kinda same. Well, I'm not saying my life is boring or sucks or whatever. As we were talking, we discover that there are so many things we can do to make life more interesting ie. go on a sudden vacation, go on bungee jumping or sky-diving, do some painting on the side of Federal Highway. Life's too short to be on a routine every single day, so why not spice up a little by doing ad hoc things right?

FYI, the source of inspiration for these kinda of thinking is from the movie 'Yes Man'. haha

So this gave me an idea. There are aplenty of things that I can do to make my life more interesting. However, I can't decide it on my own.

So here comes the good part.

I'm going to let YOU decide what I should do. Yes, YOU. I'm starting a list here, on my blog, of the 100 things I should do to stir my life around. Any kind of ideas are welcomed, of course with some limitations that I'll provide later on. Everyone is invited to participate. My lover, friends, family, stranger, anyone.

These are the limitations that I would have to impose on my list:

I don't have lots of money. So I won't be able to do some expensive and costly things, such as travelling to France and take picture beside the Mona Lisa, or go on an expedition to Mount Everest. Please keep it simple and doesn't use a lot of money.
I do have a lot of free time. I haven't start working, and my classes aren't so packed. So there isn't any time constraint to this activity. Hehehe
Please don't suggest things that might hurt me or leave me decapitated. I do love my life and my body so much.
Please don't suggest things that involve drug, sex, and alcohol.
Sex change is not an option.
I'm not sure when I'll be doing all the things that have been suggested. But I'll try to fulfill the list as soon as possible, and hopefully before I started working and raise a family of my own.
Please be realistic. I won't be a murder-for-hire.

One day, there was an accident occurring in front of a hospital. This has resulted in a massive traffic jam for anyone who is in a dire need to go and seek medical treatment. A man was seen leaving a taxi and ran towards to the emergency department of the hospital.

"Please, anyone, help me. My wife is about to give birth to our child, and yet our taxi can't get through the traffic. Please, anyone," he hollered once he entered the department.

Being a doctor, and luckily I wasn't doing anything at the moment, I rushed towards him and offered my assistance. Together, along with some basic medical equipments, we rushed out from the department and straight to a taxi.

Without further a due, I lifted his wife's maternal gown and pulled down her panties. Just when I'm about to examine the condition of the baby, he tapped my shoulder and said, "Doc, wrong taxi."
